At almost any stage of your academic career, there are an abundance of funding opportunities out there for you. Admittedly, some of these funding sources are difficult to find, so talk to lab mates, professors, and other researchers in your field to identify a grant or fellowship that is perfect for you.
In my own personal search for funding, one of the best resources I found is the Stanford Research Management Group website — here Stanford has made it easy, allowing you to search through a comprehensive list of grants and fellowships based on your academic status (i.e. predoc or postdoc), subject of interest, and application due date.
Here are a few additional funding links to get your search started:
1. Internal funding opportunities
Stanford School of Medicine Dean’s Postdoctoral Fellowship — I would highly recommend this one for postdocs in their 1st or 2nd year. A short application with two opportunities to apply each year.
Wu Tsai Neurosciences Institute Interdisciplinary Scholar Awards for Postdocs
Center for Computational, Evolutionary, and Human Genetics for Predocs and Postdocs
2. external funding opportunities (private)
A comprehensive list of grant funding opportunities and fellowship funding opportunities provided by the Stanford Research Management Group
3. External funding opportunities (federal)
National Institute of Health (NIH) — refer to my other post here to learn more about NIH funding opportunities.
